I hired Bill for a sentence modification for my significant other, who was in prison at the time for a probation violation. She was revoked for leaving the state of Georgia to go receive cancer treatment in Florida, even though she had given notice of her location and plans to her supervising officer at the time. Due to her having an active diagnosis for stage 2 cancer, I was able to push the DOC to give her a medical reprieve, and she was released during the time that Bill had a court date scheduled for her modification hearing. When Bill initially filed the order for modification, he used all of the wording I had previously sent him in an email, rather than his own-which was fine. I gave him a lot of very valuable information about her and her situation, facts that just weren’t stated during her initial sentencing. Even though she had been released, we were still working towards the modification to be able to have her adjudicated not guilty, and remove the intense stipulations the DOC placed on her upon her release for the reprieve. When finally in court, none of that information was used, and the prosecutor ate him alive. Bill didn’t try to argue any of these points that could’ve possibly given us a favorable outcome, and within two minutes of being in front of the judge, we left the Forsyth County courthouse no different than we had entered it, other than being out $3500 that otherwise wouldn’t have to have been spent. Unfortunately, I have used many attorneys over the years, and my experience with this one was much less than pleasant. I will say, Bill was responsive and really nice, but not nearly as well equipped to handle what we wanted as we had hoped he was, and seemed very unprepared at the hearing.
